Todd Akin: Embarrassing or Scary
I have a question of Senate candidate Todd Akin, who has the notion that a woman who is raped has the capacity to psychically shut down the fertilization process of egg and sperm in her body. He apparently approves of women who engage in this biological manipulation.
Is this not the same thing as abortion?
Akin asserts that he is a firm defender of the pro-life principle, but in reality he applies it selectively with the help of voodoo science. By sanctioning a woman to manipulate her bodily processes after conception by rape, his “principles” are mush. He is either a misogynist who considers rape no big deal because the woman can cancel the results anyway, or is just confused, probably both. Being pro-life and pro-voodoo abortion at the same time is egregious inconsistency.
Akin is a principle flip-flopper with no claim on probity.

Yes, Doug, there does seem to be a slight flaw in his thinking. Your labels of him are probably accurate. It does raise in my mind the question of what would it take to change his understanding and hopefully his thinking on this matter? He apparently has never sat and chatted with a rape victim. Do you think he got an earful from his wife when he got home? Hmmm.
